Mammalian Carnivores of the Americas in North American Zoos

If I recall correctly, Central American countries are considered to be part of the North American Continent.

correct. As well as Caribbean Islands
Located in the Gulf of Mexico (haha)
Depends on who you ask, there is no consistent definition of what counts as North America or not. There are a variety of competing definitions which may or may not include Central American and/or the Caribbean. I would assume that this thread is using the definition used by ZooChat, which only includes the US, Canada and Mexico.

Broadly, in the real world, yes. But ZooChat separates Central and South America (and the Caribbean islands) into one category separate from North America which is considered USA, Canada, and Mexico.

FWIW, many (most?) Spanish speaking countries tend to view North and South America as one continent rather than two as most of the rest of the world views it.
