Colchester Zoo Man Caught Smuggling Rhino Horn

Unbelievable it can happen from a uk zoo - shows how important the cites regs for dead animals are if this can happen.
 
Pretty much Colchester's fault for not disposing of the animal properly. If the horn is worth more than its weight in gold is it worth following it into the incinerator no? :mad:
 
I dont think it Colchester's fault at all! You would not expect this to happen when you use a company to dispose of animals in the correct way. How many people follow their relatives bodies in a crematorium to make sure its done properly???

Though does make you wonder if there has been other incident of animal parts being stolen.

Poor Colchester zoo it a horrible thing to have happen but at least they were caught and dealt with

Such a sick act :(. The article says that it could have fetched £600,000. He should be made to give that much money to rhinoceros conservation and to Colchester as compensation.

The price the horns are going for is astounding.

I think a jail term is well warranted as it's immediate punishment. I dont think Paying compensation for something that was to have been destroyed would get passed the courts

I hope the chain of accountability is being thoroughly investigated to ensure that this doesn't happen in the future.

I agree with the jail term as well! As for compensation, this act has caused Colchester some distress as has been noted in the article. The full amount may be a bit much, but he should be fined with it going to Colchester and a rhino charity.
 
Once I read the thread title I thought the guy was actually sick and was hoping the horns could cure him.
Glad he's been caught, stupid gits need to realize that none of this stuff works

Exactly! As much of a medicine or aphrodisiac as biting your own finger nails!:D

Agree this individual should serve time for this offence, very sick.
 
This is an awful thing, but when you have seen and known the actually animal in question it makes it seem even worst.
