Manned wolf

I don't remember them being at Marwell much later than 1987. They were housed opposite the jaguars in what is the first cheetah enclosure you come to.

They remained at Marwell till 1998; after the cheetahs moved into their enclosure in the early nineties they were relocated to the old hunting dog enclosure, which is now Marabou Mansions.

The first pr at Marwell, were housed in the enclosuer opp the semi aquatic manmal house which at pres has the Tarkin in.

my first encounter with maned wolves was at Kilverstone wildlife park in the 80's and was hooked, don't know if they bred there though.

Belfast has a maned wolf, one died recently, not sure of the collection plan for them in the future.

The Marwell births (1.1) in January 1983 were the first UK breeding. Kilverstone bred Maned Wolves in June of the same year but the pups did not survive.

I seem to remember that the first pair of maned wolves received by Marwell were wild-caught animals , probably from Ravensden . They were paid for by the Marwell Zoological Society , and they died not long after arrival . There was a suggestion that there was a problem with their diet .
