Yes! You have reminded me of that...and if I remember correctly they had a box-like structure of steps to allow them something to jump about on.

I believe the first Addax born at Marwell was in 1978,but they have been breeding on and of ever since.1:0 Addax calf has been born. He's been called Ephedra. This takes the herd to 2:2
Unsure if they've ever bred here before
I do not think so but its this Sunday fifty years ago.On the BBC South local news this morning it was mentioned that Marwell have penguin chicks.
Penguins born ahead of Marwell Zoo's 50th birthday
Until I read it in that article, it hadn't occurred to me that this year is Marwell's 50th anniversary. Does anyone if if anything is planned for it?
Nice, nice!Three female Sitatunga have arrived.
There has been no change to the fact that the proposed Wetlands project was put on-hold a long time ago so obviously this move is just coincidental. And no surprise why the lone Nyala is in the Sitatunga area as the Sitatunga and Nyala had been together in the enclosure at the Okapi house for a long time beforehand. There is no merit in keeping a solitary antelope that normally lives in herds if it can be accommodated with another similar compatible species.Great news about the new sitatunga.
It didn't previously occur to me that moving the sitatunga to their current enclosure fits with the proposed wetlands development. Is the move part of it or just coincidence?
Three female Sitatunga have arrived.
At the moment they have 1.4. but in past years be it a long time ago they had group of over twenty. How many Sitatunga did they have originally?
No meant 1.4. in total now with the new females, they lost some females who were old.as of December 2021, Marwell had 4 sitatunga in all [1 male 3 female] though seeing as these three have arrived, I would imagine that there are now 7 or so; provided none have been lost since December 2021.

I recently picked up a 2nd hand copy like new from ebay for under a tenner.Hopefully they’ll re-release John Knowles “My Marwellous Life…” I’ve been after a first hand copy for years!
Are you able to get any photos of the exhibit please? Can confirm from a visit I am currently on at this moment, Clouded Leopards have taken over the old Amur leopard area. They arrived yesterday and we were told today by one of the educators, and seeing signs for them
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to. I’m with a school group so have to move quickly and have started to feel unwell so I didn’t get any, doesn’t seem to be any major modifications to the exhibit but old leopard signage is gone and a new ID plaque akin to others in the zoo is up for the clouded leopardsAre you able to get any photos of the exhibit please?
While no major modifications the enclosures have been re-landscaped with new planting and a water feature.Unfortunately I wasn’t able to.
