Inspired by ZooLeopard's similar list of Colchester's stock, I've decided to make this same one for Marwell. I don't have the names in many instances, and some animals I have the names of some but not others. Hopefully I can edit in more names when I find them, and I'll try and update it when required. The animals in this list are those on public display.

Haha, I don't think they'd really bother giving the fish names. That'd be a pain with all the cilichids in Heart of Africa lol.

i realise the hard work that has gone into this list and the Colchester list, but are they really necessary guys?

collections are always changing so i thought that if anyone wants to see the zoo animal list at the end of each year it would be cool. Obviously i wouldn't do one every month lol!

Ok. I've been on many different forums over the years. People who complain about "unnecessary" threads annoy me no end. It's the internet - there is no premium on space. Zoochat isn't so busy that it gets hard to navigate due to the amount of material, either.

If you don't like it, don't read it. Pretty easy solution.

I sell most of the different species. I shall write down their names when I'm next in. The ones I can remember off the top of my head is Electric Blue Johanni's and Lemon Yellow Labidochromis'.

When the thread subject comes up, i read it, if i don't necessarily agree with the content, then i make my opinion, but thanks for the advice, even if it is impossible to put it into action:mad:

May I ask where the tamarins/marmosets are now being housed, is it still in that off show area by the gibbons or have some of them been out on display now? The last time I visited I didn't see any, I was a little disappointed by that.

There are Golden Headed Lion Tamarins on show opposite the Fossa, as well as another species of monkey whose name escapes me on the other side of their enclosure. There are also some tamarins on the island in Tropical World. There are Golden Lion Tamarins in a walk through exhibit up in Encounter Village, but recently this has been closed for reasons unknown. You can still see them inside their house, though.

A family of three douroucoulis are located behind the golden-headed lion tamarins. I love them (hence a few photos of them in the Marwell gallery!) Emperor tamarins live on the island in Black Swan Pond. There are also emperor tamarins along the path next to the lawn behind Marwell Hall, as well as cotton-top tamarins and goeldi's monkeys. As you say, there are golden lion tamarins in Encounter Village. It is pygmy marmosets that live on the island in Tropical World :)

It's a shame that the Golden Lions are where they are now: They were a much more interesting display near the giraffes, and now you're lucky if you see them in the main enclosure (which has been closed for a while). I hope they make an enclosure similar to their old one in the woods near the shop, as this has been delegated as the South American Rainforest biome anyway.

On a slightly unrelated note, I finished My Marwellous Life: In Zoos and Conservation last night after recieving it a week ago. Fantastic read for anyone who has or hasn't visited Marwell, recommend it. :)

I don't want to derail this thread so I will make this my final comment. Noone held a gun to your head demanding that you open the thread and read the contents. Certainly, noone will demand that you continue to read it.

You are more than capable of skipping over things that don't interest you.

like you, my final comment, once i have read it then i will decide to skip over it, and as you make a thing about the internet, not only is space limitless, but so is freedom of speech and opinion.
