yes I agree with that I think the Amur Leopard enclosure looks horrible
As I have said before, the tree's which are growing in the enclosure are now becoming unsafe and have had to be made safe in recent months.
One side is a lot smaller than the other.
The tigers have had work done to the enclosure, the aim is to introduce the male back with the female and the cubs. There is now a new door at the top end of the enclosure to allow free movement at the end.

Criticising Marwell is something I try not to do any more - I simply don't understand the place, what it is trying to do, what it is trying to be - but this comment beggars a response! If it is true, how on earth can it be so that the leopard enclosure is nearing the end of its "design life"? It's hardly a prehistoric piece of architecture, and from every perspective - not the least of which would be the waste of resources which would be represented by needing to replace it at this stage - surely it cannot yet be ready for the chop....
That said, from a viewing perspective, and from an aesthetic perspective, and from an educational perspective, I've always thought it to be a pretty lousy exhibit....
Marwell have now published there new summer 2016 online news magazine which talks about the new tiger cubs, the new leopard cubs, the new tropical house exhibit, Pembe the new white rhino as well as some other births and developments in the zoo. Worth a read for once with all the good news.
The Bearded Reedlings arrived some time ago and have been of show,have bred think there are now 8. 2 hammerkop and 2 Turaco chicks have hatched.
The female Tiger cubs have been named Zima and Bailla - a public vote is currently underway to decide the name of the male cub. The choices are Titan, Luca and Makari

That's a shame; I always especially liked the fact that Marwell had three species of zebra.
Do you know where the Chapman's zebra have gone?

It was good to have a collection with three zebra taxa:- Grevy’s zebra, Hartmann’s mountain zebra and Chapman’s zebra; I'll miss the latter now that they've gone.
Sadly, Chapman's Zebra can now just be added to THAT list!!! Species that have gone from Marwell.... It grows every year I'm afraid
