Marwell Wildlife Marwell Zoo News 2018

Does Marwell have any other Blesbok already?
No and Blesbok and Dik Dik are both new species that Marwell has not had before, hopefully they will build a group of Blesbok up to replace other species that are now in decline like Congo Buffalo and Waterbuck that are down to 3 animals each.

1:0 Binturong has arrived from Rostock Zoo. The male is called 'Manu' and currently resides in the former Fossa enclosure.
Does that mean the Fossa are no longer kept at Marwell then? I am glad to hear that they have a Binturong now but are the fossas not at the park anymore? And if so, what happened to them?

I see, well in some way it's a shame that the male will be leaving but I still the think the Binturong is a nice addition indeed, along with the Blesboks & Dik-Diks. :)

Do you know where it will be going? Chester ?
No dont know the female left for Kralove last year, but again Binturong is another new species for Marwell, after so many years of species leaving its nice to see species coming in.

The entire group of Sulawesi Macaque are leaving on the 1st February for Tayto Park. Plans for their island at Marwell will be announced soon.....

Not a surprise have not been out on the island since they last got of it,and over the years there has been a number of incidents.

I'm afraid the first news from Marwell is the usual 'every silver lining has a cloud ' story!

A binturong has arrived from Rostock - replacing the female fossa which has gone to the Czech Republic.

2 female Blesbok arrived from Chessington.

The Sulawezi Macaque are all going to Tayto Park in February. Future plans for island to be announced ( probably something common I fear!)

Info from Marwell January newsletter.

Shame it couldn't all have been positive - for once!!
