Two Addax calves today, does anyone know when they were born? Can't find mention anywhere, sorry if I missed it.
I had a quick flying visit this afternoon, I couldn’t see any Addax calves but there was a compartment of their house that was not viewable so they may have been in there.
There has been a problem with the Blesbok Paddock, and the Blesbok are now in the back of the Lesser Kudu house, another female plains Zebra has arrived making 1.4.I had a quick flying visit this afternoon, I couldn’t see any Addax calves but there was a compartment of their house that was not viewable so they may have been in there. Interestingly, there are now two Addax in what use to be the Blesbok enclosure by the tropical house - anyone know what has happened to them?
i'd check again!I’ve popped a couple of pics of them in the gallery.
The male is around seventeen years old and dont think will breed again,a female Congo Buffalo has died leaving just a single female at Marwell.Female Amur Leopard Kaia is shortly moving to Sandwich Wildlife park around about the 12th. It is stated that she, as an individual, is incredibly important to the breeding programme so is needed elsewhere.
It doesn't appear from the Facebook post that a replacement is being sought although this may change.

If the male can't breed again, I am surprised he isn't the one moving to Sandwich rather than the female, given Marwell have a proven breeding record and probably better facilities! The male is around seventeen years old and dont think will breed again,a female Congo Buffalo has died leaving just a single female at Marwell.

Unless they've built a new enclosure they haven't got a better enclosure, which was my main point. Given Marwell's leopard exhibit is better than the cages at Wingham for similar species, I'm not confident anything better will have been built on the small RSCC site!Sandwich is the old Rare breeds center. I never visited before it closed but it means that they have lots of enclosures pre built and just waiting to home animals.
To be homest the Marwell leopard enslosure is showing it's age now so it may be that Sandwich has better facilities.
Some good news to follow the bad for a change! Nice additionMarwell has a new species!!!! 3:0 long nosed potoroos have arrived from Blackpool zoo.
What is the sit at Sandwich like for Amur leopard? Both facilities wies and in terms of an appropriate breeding partner!?!Female Amur Leopard Kaia is shortly moving to Sandwich Wildlife park around about the 12th.
