It looks as though the masterplan may be back on the drawing board again, as Edinburgh council look set to approve the construction of 80 homes on around 12 acres of land owned on the western boundary of the zoo.

This sounds positive and I really want it to go ahead. However, 80 houses is not nearly 150 so lets hope the pandas bring in lots of extra visitors to make up for it.

Now that is good news and i fully expect Edinburgh Zoo to put the money where their mouth is and re-build on all ready brilliant Zoo.

If the pandas are guaranteed, this will be definately be the first exhibit as they are scheduled for arrival next year.
After that i would say next up would be the Indian rhino enclosure for the top of the zoo.

The Council are yet to agree the plans , it has only been recommended to them that they accept by their officials . It is not unknown , at least locally , for a Council to ignore such recommendations . I hope this does not happen .
