Meerkat breeding

I work at a small zoo called Tropical wings in essex and i was just wondering what other zoos do to slow or stop meerkats from breeding. We have now reached the max amount of meerkats in our enclosure and now need to stop them from breeding really. Any advice would be lovely!!!

Well I'm not expert, but you could check with other zoos and parks and see if they could take any males or females of your hands, especially if they are the ones fathering/mothering the young. Or you can netuer them, if you can on Meerkats. There may be other ways but those are the top ones I can think off.

Spaying/neutering's the first thought that came to mind, too. I *think* that's what they did with the meerkats at Toronto, unless they've put them on less permanent birth control.
