WILD LIFE Sydney to open in Darling Harbour

The ultimate Australian Animal Adventure is set to arrive in Sydney as Merlin Entertainments Group launches WILD LIFE Sydney at Darling Harbour’s Aquarium Wharf on 13 September.

Visitors will walk through eight iconic Australian habitats, taking about 1.5 to 2 hours. They will experience Kakadu Gorge, The Outback, Gum Tree Valley, Daintree Rainforest, Butterfly Tropics and more, encountering Australia’s most loved and feared animals on the way – all in the middle of Sydney.

The new attraction is located on the site of Sydney Wildlife World. International visitors can now experience the ultimate Australian Animal Adventure and come face-to-face with one of Australia’s largest collections of native Aussie animals.

WILD LIFE Sydney will feature enhanced interactive displays, inspiring and entertaining daily shows, captivating daily feeding sessions and walk-through habitats including Koala Encounters, The Outback and Butterfly Tropics.

WILD LIFE Sydney is home to the ‘un-bearably cute’ koala, Australia’s largest kangaroo, the world’s deadliest bird and WILD LIFE’s monster croc, Rex!

To coincide with the official 13 September relaunch, WILD LIFE Sydney will expand its iconic Outback habitat by introducing six baby emus.
 
Do I understand right? A new zoo facility that shows more or less the same animals as another facility adjacted/close by already does?

Not quite, more of a reduction/renovation/rebranding of 'Sydney Wildlife World' to 'WILD LIFE Sydney'.

The press release is a bit misleading, certainly the line "on the site of..." implies a much more radical change than what has actually occurred.

Does anyone know if the emu chicks will be kept on as adults, or will new chicks replace maturing birds periodically? I would think six adults would be too many for the exhibit, but a pair should be fine?
 
This is quite a relieve. A little upgrade, that's all. That great experience park, with it's magnificent collection and exhibits will stay the same.
 
I went to the aquarium but I don't remember this when I was in Sydney, has it been there a long time?
