On August 19th, the zoo announced they acquired a (1.0) Grant's zebra named Rowan from the Gladys Porter Zoo in Texas which is now on exhibit.

On May 23rd, the zoo announced that a (0.0.1) black howler monkey was born and is now on exhibit. This birth marks the first time the species has been successfully bred at the facility.

On November 20th, the zoo announced that they acquired (0.0.4+) blue death-feigning beetles of 3 different species (Asbolus verruscosus, Absolus laevis, and Cryptoglossa muricata) which are now on exhibit in the Discovery Center.

28 year old male Malayan Sun Bear, Fong, will be moved off exhibit next week in preparation for his move to another zoo. His move will allow the zoo to expand the tiger exhibit in preparation for the arrival of a Sumatran tiger in the spring.

Also on November 20th, it was announced that the zoo transferred Fong to the Racine Zoo in Wisconsin.

On December 22nd, it was announced that the zoo transferred (3.0) sitatungas named Bamm Bamm, Elton, and Zayne to the Tulsa Zoo in Texas.

Mesker Park Zoo wants to build a brand-new Giraffe barn that will allow the zoo to maintain a herd of the animals and give the public year-round viewing. As things stand, the zoo has two female Giraffes in an abysmally small barn where they spend most of their lives. Yet, the city's Parks Board said NO to spending $10 million on a new barn.
