On June 13th, 2024, the zoo announced they acquired a (1.0) Madagascar giant day gecko named Sherbert which is on display next to the golden mantellas in the viewing shelter area.

On January 10th, 2025, the zoo announced they acquired a (1.0) black-and-white ruffed lemur named John Cleese from the Bramble Park Zoo in South Dakota which is now on exhibit.

The zoo also announced they acquired a (1.0) turkey vulture named Ichabod from Hawk Creek Wildlife Center in New York which is also now on exhibit, as well as teased a brand new species that is to be revealed in the coming week.

On February 6th, it was reported that $1.37 million was approved by the San Joaquin City Board of Supervisors for the Parks & Recreation budget of which $66.5K will go towards the site survey and conception of a new primate exhibit and the purchasing of a new van for educational purposes.
