This small zoo, is planning to undergo a huge expansion, in the zoo's perspective. The first step is rebuilding the east end of the zoo...this project has been on the boards for the last 10 years.

Zoo expansion means snow leopards and river otters coming to Micke Grove in 2010

A preliminary materplan was posted on the web last year....I'll see if I can relocate it.

The zoo's sea lion pool has now been demolished and a new loorikeet aviary will temporarily be placed on the location:

I understand that traveling exhibits have become popular, but I still dont approve of them. I think is causes more stress and money than a permanent exhibit. With a permanent exhibit, you acquire animals once, and construct an exhibit that probably wont need "upgraded" for a few years. For traveling exhibits every year you have to reacquire animals and possibly redo or change the enclosure. I just think the less stress the better. However, for a smaller zoo like this one, it might be beneficial to display variety, even if it is a little bit more of a headache.
