Miller Park Zoo Miller Park Zoo News

I'm planning on visiting this zoo rather soon, but I couldn't find a proper animal list, does anyone know the list or know of a place to find the list?

The zoo's only Rusty-Spotted Genet "Mean Jean" died in 2016 I believe. That area is now Reticulated Python/Pygmy Slow Loris, Tree Shrew, Indochinese Box Turtle, and Crested Wood Partridge. The Seba's Bats are still there and are mixed with Jamaican Fruit Bats!

Great news! For me even more exciting when reading that a male is from Czech Republic :). I suppose he could be from Brno, couldn't he?
It's MAKALU, born 2016-04-18 at Brno Zoo , son of MANU and ROSA, with 1 brother and 2 sisters.
Transfered to Miller Park in dec. 2018.
Does anyone have infos about the female (name, origin, parents...) ?

Disgusting incident at the Miller Park Zoo this past weekend: a flamingo had to be euthanized after a juvenile threw rocks into the enclosure, breaking the animal's leg beyond repair, so the animal sadly had to be euthanized.

And yet according to the articles the zoo is calling this an "unfortunate accident" and are "working with the juvenile's family to move forward". I'm sorry, but skipping or throwing rocks into an animal enclosure is not what I would call an unfortunate accident - that is deliberate and intended animal cruelty, pure and simple.

The zoo really should be pressing charges against these people for animal cruelty. The juvenile ought to be sent to some kind of detention and re-education facility for juvenile delinquents or in a few years time he might very well be hurting humans. And the parents should be sent to jail for not raising their child to have values and for not watching their child's behavior well enough.

Some days you really just want to send for Thanos to thin the human horde...

While it is very unfortunate that this incident resulted in the death of an animal, we do not know all the information. This very well might have been an accident and the child might not have meant to hit the bird. I’m so glad the zoo is taking the time to talk with the family and turn it into a learning opportunity instead of straight away suing or pressing charges. That would give the family a chance to appear as the victims or make the zoo appear as overly tough. If this was an adult, I’d agree full heatedly with you though. We just don’t have the information and it’s best to give benefit of the doubt in this situation.

While looking at the zoo's Instagram, I found that the Katthoefer Animal Building has been home to two Francois' langurs since August 2018.
