To help resolve some dates...

Koala were at Milwaukee Zoo from 1992 until 2003 or so, and returned for summer 2007 on loan from San Diego Zoo.

I am fairly certain Cougar were last exhibited at Milwaukee around 2005, when Big Cat Country was renovated to its current state.

The zoo's Asiatic black bear, Hot Lips, passed away in 2016.

The zoo's Malayan tapir, Maggie, passed away in 2017 or 2018.

The zoo's last Dall Sheep, Aurora, also died around 2018.

I believe kinkajou, meerkat, and caracal were still present on my last visit in 2014.

Dwarf Mongooses and Slow Lorsies are back, baby!
Also, looking at this thread and the 1973 Guidebook pictures in the gallery fills me with pain. If I had a Time Machine, I’d travel back to the 1970’s and go to the Milwaukee Zoo.

Emperor Penguin:

Also relating to Adelies, in December 1968 a research team from Antarctica transported a bunch of birds and some Weddell Seals to the USA, of which St Louis received 8 skuas, 8 Emperor Penguins and 8 Adelies. Detroit and Cincinnati got the same three species. Milwaukee just took Emperors.

Was there an asiatic bear named Hawkeye partnered with hot lips

Found via Archive the zoo's own species list, which can be viewed from 2008 onward.

Some additional former species are common eland, lappet-faced vulture, Speke's gazelle, black-and-white ruffed lemur, pygmy marmoset, golden-headed lion tamarin, acouchi, grenada frog, cuban iguana and leopard shark.

Milwaukee was the first zoo to breed Grenada frog in captivity.

Also, Snow Lilly joined the zoo from the Bronx in 2005, and red pandas joined the collection in May 2002.

Was there an asiatic bear named Hawkeye partnered with hot lips
I can't verify this, unfortunately. There was only one bear by the time of the source.

It's rather interesting that despite being such an old zoo with so many species, Milwaukee doesn't have very many "former" exhibits. Most of the zoo that was built many decades ago still stands today. Despite this, there are a ton of species that have come and gone throughout the years. A good chunk of the zoos central outdoor area is still labeled Africa/Asia/South America, so to avoid any confusion I will be dividing the three into their own lists. Also, I am not aware of the dates many of these species were phased out so please forgive me for the lack of info on that front.
