Had a very nice visit today, not many updates but there are a few.

. The Zebra Shark Pups have outgrown the old Jellyfish tank, and in their place are Blue-Green Chromis, Double Saddle Butterflyfish, Latticed Butterflyfish, and Japan Surgeonfish.

. A new species of either Wrasse or Goby has been added to the Lined Seahorse Tank

. A layer of steel wire mesh has been added over the old Trout tank in Russia's Grizzly Coast. Not quite sure what the purpose of this would be.

. The Bald Eagle was still off exhibit today, but the signage explaining why has been removed.

So now how many times have they rotated this exhibit :p?!?!

Callisto, a five-year-old female Amur Tiger, was transferred to the Sedgewick County Zoo this past December. This leaves the zoo with just a 1.1 pair of Amur Tigers left.

My condolences are also given, ever since I went to the MN zoo for the first time the male tiger was one of my favorites too see, In the summertime it was enjoying its time immensely and It was so much fun to watch them for upwards of 20 mins at a time.

You will be missed.

On April 29th, it was reported that the zoo is beginning to construct a 1.25-mile-long elevated walkway 32 feet up named the Treetop Trail. Work will take until summer of 2023, and once completed it will be the world's longest elevated pedestrian loop. The loop will be repurposing track from the monorail, which closed down in 2013.

Very excited that construction will finally begin soon! I’m interested to see what else is next to come once the Treetops Trail is completed, or if any new species are interested to be included!

Will this be reopening a portion of the zoo that's been closed off since the monorail closed?

There's a forested area in the undeveloped northern part of the zoo grounds that will be accessible again but there are no exhibits in that area. There is some off-exhibit outdoor holding for education animals at the location where the monorail track meets the main building, so perhaps those will become visible. Otherwise the main priority seems to be developing a nature experience rather than expanding exhibits.
