Missed chances

Today I was so lucky to spot a Red kite, quite a rare bird in the Netherlands. I had however no camara with me so I was not able to photograph it :(.
By thinking of this missed oppertunity , it came to mind that I have had more of these missed chances. While working at Vogelpark Walsrode I had 3 years the chance to photograph the Spix macaw and the Yellow-eared parakeet but I didn't ( don't ask me why because I don't understand it myself by now ! ).
I would be intrested to hear about other Zoochatters missed chances and the reason why !
 
Living in Los Angeles I had the chance to photograph a Sumatran Rhino many times, but in all the years that Andalas was at the zoo I never got a photograph of him. The main reason was that in the early days I never took a camera to the zoo, so when I did start taking it, Andalas had already left for Sumatra.

It still kills me that I never got a photo of him, but I go lucky this year and managed to get a photograph of his brother Harapan before he went back to Cincinnati.
