Mixed species enclosures and other changes for Burgers Zoo

Alright, here's the updated version. I added some fishes and there's only two creatures left

I've added the basic layout of your tide pool ideas. Along with some of the others. And made a few adjustments as well.

The shark tank goes over the wheelchair ramp with a glass roof

There are two tank placement ideas I had, but these aren't final yet. The big dark blue blob in the middle is the hanging humpback whale from the ceiling / balcony.

There's only two animals left but also plenty of space for multiple new tanks. So feel free to add some new animals, or double up on some

What are the two new tanks?

No clue, there aren't really enough animals to fill them up

Edit: alright, I've looked up some extras.
Longspine snipefish

Atlantic cod

Blackbelly rosefish

Bogue

Common pandora

Greater weever

And boarfish

these can be added anywhere they fit, honestly

Ok how about for the ovalish one you make it a touch tank with common stingrays, Cuckoo rays, and common eagle rays. The other tank can have the anglers and spiny dogfish.

Ok I'm happy you added boops boops, also I will just rework my old idea

Ok here is my idea on how the seal area would look

Pretty similar to the current idea, actually

Wad.png

The whole area will be one big aviary with free-flying European herring gulls, Commons terns, Yellow-legged gulls, Eurasian great cormorants, European eiders, and Northern gannets.

There is also a small walkover dune section with walking birds, those species are specified

Common eagle rays don't live in the wadden sea, but otherwise a good idea

I actually flipped where the land was for underwater viewing which could still happen it would just be very awkward with the aviary

I was thought it would be cooler to do it from the aquarium

I thought they lived in the North Sea? Do they just stay out of Wadden?

If you look up the distribution for the common eagle ray you'll see they don't go more north than the southern tip of Japan

Edit: nevermind, they only kept showing me spotted eagle maps. Common eagle rays indeed live in the North sea, maybe we can swap the blue skate in the open ocean and the eagle ray. With blue skates in the touch tanks and eagle rays in the open ocean tank

Ok that works better
You are referring to the spotted eagle ray(Aetobatus narinari) I am referring to the Common Eagle Ray (Myliobatis aquila)

Maybe we can swap the eagle rays and the blue skates? Since eagle rays swim more in open waters and skates tend to stick to the seafloor. Or maybe keep the skates in both tanks

Alright then, that would only leave two animals. The longspine snipefish, and the angler

I think you are right we should swap them

Angler can be moved to the predator tank on the second level and the snipefish can go with the lumpfish

Just dropping this here:
Video of seal eating swan has wildlife experts baffled

https://www.researchgate.net/public...als_killing_eider_ducks_in_the_Clyde_Sea_area

It's one thing to combine birds with harbor seals (especially females), but combining them with grey seals... Female grey seals are already quite big, not to speak about the males.

Have you though about rearing tanks? Many aquaria have more then one tank housing the same species. One where they house adults together with predators of young fish, and another one where they house the juveniles in a safer environment. Also no pelagic sharks in the main tank like smooth-hounds or spiny dogfish? If you want a great example of a huge East-Atlantic tank (you might now it already), see this: Nordsøen Oceanarium - ZooChat

Well, that's kinda why I asked for help. And I did see the North sea oceanarium. I sent a link a few comments back.
