Mixed species enclosures and other changes for Burgers Zoo

I really like this exhibit especially the sensory hall, can I suggest having the entire wall where the cockroaches and tree frogs are to be a cliff or rock wall to add layering to the exhibit

Most of the night house will be Amazon themed, but the Jaguarundi, Tayra, Ocelot, and back of the caiman exhibit will be more rocky. Styled like dark grey, layered rock caves. I forgot the name of the type of rock, but it's leisteen in Dutch

Ya that rock would be great with hanging plants and leaves above it

The basic plan, yeah.

For my visit tomorrow I want to ask some questions to keepers about animal care. I'm going to ask about the specialized diet for aardvarks and transportation of animals over long distances, like the bighorn sheep and ringtails from America.
I also want to ask about the stress of animals, but I'm not sure what animal would be a good example. What animal in Burgers zoo do you think is most effected by stress?
And what are some other questions that would be good for research?

Do you want to keep two species of night monkeys in the same enclosure? If so, doesn't this pose a risk for potential hybridisation between these species?

I know burgers has no pangolins but they are a good example.
take notes and take pictures for your visit

The pangolins are exactly why I wanted to ask, are ring tails effected by stress much? Their enclosure seems designed to reduce stress as much as possible

Good point, I'll go for Azara's then, since they're the prettiest

Edit: Alright then, I'm going for Southern Bolivian Night monkey, I checked on ZooTierListe and there aren't any Azara's in Europe

Alright, so this is the current updated map. I still have to re-do the logo and get pics for the animals and stuff but this is the basic layout. Any questions or suggestions left?

My only question is where will the free-flight aviary that was in park be?

I'm not sure I know what you mean, there was an aviary at the back of the park, but those birds were mainly australian and will be moved to Outback where they will fly freely. The birds that can safely go in bush will be moved there, such as the trumpeter birds. I'm not sure what specific bird species there are but that's what I'm there to find out. The other animals there, like the Green tree boas, will move on to other zoos. The bearded vutures will be moved to the side of the playground, above the reindeer / Rhea enclosure

I would be interested to know what they think of this project.
Also you could ask which animals they would like to see at Burgers Zoo.

Alright: here's my current list of things I'm going to find out. Don't worry though, I'll spread my questions evenly over multple keepers

- Find out about spacing for all new regions (Island houses, Oceania halls, Arctic hall, Night house, Congo, Woods, Safari, Desert)

- Find out about spacing for all new enclosures (Bearded vulture, Rheas)

- Find out if there’s space for new animals in Rimba

- Find out if there’s space for giant otters in Bush

- Find out if there’s any other European animals

- Find out about what Oceanian birds are in the aviary

- Ask keeper about specialised diets (aardvark, bats)

- Ask keeper about transport (Ringtail, Bighorn sheep)

- Ask keeper about availability (Mangrove molly, Blacktip shark)

- Ask guests about animals they’d like to see

- Ask keeper about what animals they’d like to see

- Ask keeper about safety of certain animals in walkthrough enclosures

- Ask keeper about safety of fenceless bridges and walking stones

- Ask keeper about animal feeding in shared species enclosures

- Ask keeper about safety of keeping other aviary birds in Bush

- Ask keeper about chances of new regions being added

- Ask keeper about stress and visibility of animals

Find out what species Burgers have but is currently off exhibit
Make sure the elephant program is continuing
scout areas to replant trees displaced by new exhibits
Find out about any new animal moves to or from burgers
What are average temps and how do warmer weather animals react to them

Well, I've got bad news. There were barely any keepers walking around, most were in backstage paths or were in a big hurry. So I couldn't ask any questions.

- Find out if there’s space for giant otters in Bush:
No chance, would be a terrible idea with the current bird population whilst the currently present capybaras can perfectly coexist with the birds (and also the turtles and fishes) there. Also they already have an otter species in the Bush so why add another? Unless they remove the aardvark and caiman and enlarge the aviary there I'm quite sure there isn't an area where they can safely display them without ruining the entire immersion (a large netted of section in the center would kinda ruin the rainforest feeling).
