Could a large sahel themed enclosure for giant eland, red fronted gazelle, kordofan giraffe and nile lechwe work?
The reason i did not include the nubian giraffes are more rare in North american and European collections than kordofanIf large enough, almost every enclosure could work for an mix of herbivores.
Maybe Niger giraffe would fit even better in a Sahel exhibit than Kordofan (it's single most important population in the Garamba NP lies way out of the Sahel region, although it certainly originated within the boundaries of the Sahel). The latter is rather a borderline species between the true Sahel and the woodland savannah.
You can mix macaques with sloth bears, but there is a real danger that a monkey gets killed, with such an endangered species, you should not risk thatHow about lion-tailed macaque and indian sloth bear?
Both of these species are rare, but present, in US Zoos.there are no giant eland nor red-fronted gazelles in captivity (at least in Europe).
Holy crap that’s terrible, and in my own country as well... Never heard this story. I’m shocked at the fact that they are still kept with other macaque species even after this horrible accident...It’s a no from me: Zoo visitors watch bears kill, eat monkey

I have seen the exhibit in Magdeburg, and I think there are also african black ducks. I'm no expert, but I don't think other baboons would work, I think they could be quite aggressive, and I don't know mixed exhibits with them. Geladas are safe to mix with ungulates I think, e.g. Rheine has them mixed with barbary sheep in one enclosureAccording to ZTL, there's an interesting mix of Gelada, Rock hyrax, Nubian ibex and Blue-winged goose in Magdenburg zoo
Would swapping Gelada with Hamadryas baboon bring any negative effects?

Hamadrayas are much more carnivorous than gelada - I'd fear for those ducks and hyrax.
Geladas are the most herbivores of all monkeys, while baboons are the most carnivours ones, You can see the problem...According to ZTL, there's an interesting mix of Gelada, Rock hyrax, Nubian ibex and Blue-winged goose in Magdenburg zoo

I totally agree with you, however this case is a bit different imo. As far as I can find on the internet, sloth bears don’t hunt on mammals on the wild, only insects. If this whole group of bears ate a macaque, there’s something wrong. We either don’t know enough about the species’ diet, or their behaviour changes in captivity. I don’t that’s a safe species to use in mixed exhibits.Leipzig does (or did) this with rhesus macaques and sloth bears for many years.
It appears to me that many people find the Beekse Bergen incident far more horrifying because it's a primate-predator case. I don't, predators hunt (sometimes). In this case, the primate probably annoyed the bear one time too many.
It's simply a risk of mixed exhibits. There are a lot of known incidents between herbivores too, but there's less fuss about that.
Can chinese alligator work with multiple turtle species?
Potentially a primate species. I am not sure though, so confirmation from someone else would be greatly appreciated. What other African species could potentially be housed with African forest buffaloes and Red river hogs in a large exhibit, say in a wildlife or safari park type facility?
Elephants + Warthogs = OKWould a mix of African bush elephant, Vervet monkey, Blesbok and Common warthog work?
