It could, I mean if a zoo built a paddock with like mesh over it (so a giant aviary basically) you could keep hoof stock and birds without need for flight-restricting them.Yes you're right! Aviary with separated hoofstock exhibit is relatively common. Antwerp's Buffalo aviary comes to mind, as well as Blijdorp and Doué la Fontaine, which both have Okapi aviaries.

Once there were Kookaburras with Keas, Lories and Eclectus Parrots in a mixed aviary in Beauval, that lasted for years.
Before you commented, I never realy about mixing keas with anything, as they are soemwhat predetory

Currently the mix I have mentioned has ceased, but Beauval displays a new bird mix that includes Keas in one of its aviaries since 2022.
The aviary has an Oceanian theme, we can see there Masked Lapwings and Doves, at least.

Pretty much all of these should be fine, in a large enough aviary at least. The only animal I'd be slightly worried about would be the Chaco chacolaca, I'm not sure these will play nice with the other ground-dwelling birds.
Chilean flamingos are nervous when housed together with screamers and maguari storks. They will not hurt each other but flamingos probably wont breed in this set-up.
Large macaws will chew through most netting, you need to use pretty thick metal wires for them. While the remaining species (with exception of amazons) could be held by much cheaper and way less heavy elastic netting, with reinforced band along perimeter for the capys. Macaws and amazons will destroy all grown trees in the aviary over time by nipping all buds on branches, this will impair esthetics of the space.

I'm conflicted about that. The Wilhelma has two pairs of them, one lives together with Chilean Tinamus, i.e. ground birds, and crimson-bellied parakeets, the other lives freely in the Amazon house. Because of this pair, the sun bittern, a ground bird, had to move out and they also argue with the Solitary Tinamus, who live in an aviary in the house.
Classic case of the ol' "it all depends on the individuals". Chacalacas with other ground birds can go well, but not always. Probably safer to not mix them

I’ve heard macaws (especially bigger ones such as Scarlets) do not play nicely with smaller birds they share air space with. You’d probably have to keep the macaws separated at the very least.

Would marbled cats/clouded leopards and asian small-clawed otter [or smooth-coated otter] work?

I think the cats would probably hunt the otters. Food competition would also be an issue. Such a combination would be an accident waiting to happen. Mixing predators of different sizes is generally not a good idea.

Bird Paradise does something similar, but you may need plenty of space. The aviary with all of these is estimated to be 0.7 hectares squared.

Many of these (or similar) bird species are displayed together in a 2,5 ha aviary in Beauval, minus the parrots (I regret that), waders, doves and songbirds.
The direction once planned to introduce Pudus but it didn't happened yet. There are currently 4 mammal species in the aviary : Giant Anteaters, Colombian Spider Monkeys, Red Howler Monkeys and White-faced Sakis.
