I know this thread is going to sound crazy, but has any zoo ever attempted a mixed species exhibit with cats and any other species (not including fishes in a fishing cat/jaguar/tiger pond)? I’m also not talking about domestic dogs serving as companion animals for cheetahs. I mean, I could see a cheetah being successfully paired with an adult rhinoceros or adult giraffes, as a cheetah isn’t the most aggressive cat and both ungulate are far too large for it to even attempt to prey on. The only example that I know of was in 2006 when the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium had a mini pack of 4 African Wild Dogs living with an elderly female cheetah. The cheetah died in spring 2007, and the dogs stayed until their incident in 2012 which forced them to be removed from the zoo’s collection.
