Just trying to get a feel of what mixed exhibits are in the UK.
By mixed exhibits I'm talking about zoo type enclosure exhibits for instance I think Longleat keep Porcupine in with their meerkats(I think).

Anyone have any ideas on what collections house what in mixed exhibits?

Francois langur/babirusa
Sulawesi crested macaque/anoa
Huge mix of different deer together in a drive-thru section, as well as Bactrian camel and Przewalski's horse (2 different sections for the above from what I can tell)
Also 2 different types of lemur mixed together, and 2 different types of waterbuck

  • Bornean orangutan & lar gibbon
  • Sumatran orangutan & silvery gibbon
Chester don’t mix either species of orangutan with their respective gibbon species. They used to mix the lar gibbons but no longer, I’m not sure if the silvery gibbons were every mixed?

Jersey (off the top of my head, haven’t been in a few years):
  • Sumatran orangutan and 0.1 lar gibbon and 1.0 northern white cheek gibbon
  • Palawan peacock pheasant, nicobar pigeon Javan sparrow, Sumatran laughingthrush Mindanao bleeding-heart dove + more
  • Madagascar ibis, hammerkop, pink pigeon, Madagascar teal + more
  • Chilean flamingo and red-breasted goose
  • Aye-aye and Malagasy giant jumping rat
  • Previously had Andean bear with coati, howler monkeys and bush dogs. Not sure if bush dogs or coatis are still there. Think anteaters have replaced the bears now, but unsure if mixed with howlers (assume so)
  • Livingstone’s fruit bat and Rodrigues fruit bat
  • Golden lion tamarin, emperor tamarin and silvery marmosets free ranging in shared woodland
  • Galapagos and radiated tortoises

As of October last year the Silvery Gibbons were housed with the Sumatran Orangutans in Monsoon and have done since ~2016, unless they've been moved for some reason...

Banham:

Emu, Red Kangaroo

Somali Wild Ass, Somalia Sheep

Giant wood rail, green-winged dove, Victoria crowned pigeon, saki monkey, two-toed sloth

Chilean flamingo, Bar-Headed Goose, Red Breasted Goose

Helmeted Currasow, Scarlet Ibis, African Spoonbill

Black and white ruffed lemur, common carp

Rhinoceros iguana and tortoise (possibly spur-thighed)

*I’m likely missing some

The silvery gibbons are indeed housed in Monsoon Forest in the enclosure opposite the Sumatran orangutans the other side of the public area but they are not mixed. The gibbons have access to the large netted outside area only.
