Monkey Island history

What breed of monkey was on monkey Island roughly 20-30 years ago?.... I know there was alot of them and they were brown and Grey in color.
 
Assuming you are talking about John Ball Zoo (since your profile says that you are in Kent MI USA) the answer is probably spider monkeys.
