ive have set up this new thread to see if anyone can answer my questions on Monkey World

Are any more orangutans preganat ?

Are they importing more gibbons and orangutans form taiwan ( sorry about the spelling )

looking foward to hear from you !
 
I don't know answers to either question however I do know that a baby orangutan named Lingga arrived recently and Susie the chimp gave birth to a boy named Bart
 
wow a new female orangutan has arrived - and susies has had another baby called bart wow anything eles u know ? very intreesed
 
british zoobeaters channel 5 tonight and all this week at 6.30 monkey life a new series behind the scenes at monkey world. this is not a repeat programme.
 
i know i am loving the new series - i also found out that chimp jimmy moved to the bachloers ? why and 70 capuchins monkeys are being brought ot the park form chillei anyone else know anything

I do not agree with some of the Monkey World involvement in this. In Chili there is a rescue center perfectly capable of providing a good home for the lab capuchins. No need to make them transport these unfortunate monkeys intercontinental style though.

The Chilean center has quite a few species in family groups already (woolly monkey, howlers, tamarins and capuchins). Please check their website at Centro de Primates Peñaflor.
 
i had no idea they were coming from a rescue centre = perhaps the centre came to them for help - 70 is a large number perhaps the centre was over crowded

Don't get the wrong idea ... The capuchins are at the moment in a medical lab of some sorts. The Chilean center is in the process of getting them to the rescue center.
 
Seamus has moved the the bachelor group andhas met Jimmy, Charlie, Carli, Freddy and Gypsy. He likes Carli and Jimmy best.

On a much sadder note, Monkey World's young Sumatran orangutan has died. R.I.P Aris you will be greatly missed.
 
Tissues all round, I think. I've just had a look through the photos I took of the nursery group in the summer and, sadly, he isn't included.
 
aris died following an injury to his leg
they did an operation which he succesfully got over
the next day he was climbing about
then a few days later he started going down hill very quickly
he was found lying on the floor
4 days later he declined so much tht they decided to put him to sleep
his heartbeat was very bad after the operation
they are waiting for the results of an autopsy to determine what happened
but they think he had something wrong with his brain

In answer to ur earlier question about jimmy
he was moved into the batchelors in january because paddy and the whole group ousted him out.
But he doing very well with the boys
he gets on very well with sammy and carli and seamus.
I think the funny thing is tht he back with paco who he hated but they seem to have forgotten about what happened 2 yrs ago.
Which is good.

Poor Jimmy, it must be scary having the whole of Paddy's group ganging up on you... I'm glad he's get on well with the hooligans.
