Hsiao-Quai is pregnant!!!!

And the dad is probably Gordon!!!! (She's been living with him recently)

Good news, how old Kai now?

Fantastic news if this turns out to be Gordan's baby. With a captive born sire and wild born dam this baby will have a serious pedigree! It's brilliant news no matter who the father is.

It may well be a bit rude but i agree with Kirafu Bwana are we all suppose to be able to read peoples mind,as to what they are on about as somebody who has never watched an epsiode of the TV series from the place as a result just names been nothing to me and probably quiet a few other people on here.

Still, a kind polite comment or question would have been more appropriate. It's a big deal to some people to find a new forum and they're excited to impart news, it's unnecessary to slap them down if they misjudge the tenor of the forum. Unless maybe you'd just like a select group of suitably knowledgeable people to be allowed to post.

i wouldn't watch the t.v series either but in the Monkeyworld case you need only look on their website for all the identities of the Primates to be revealed.

Yep but i don`t look at the website i wouldn`t want to make their web stats look any better than they are,as i don`t agree with some of the things they do.

I`m not going to defend the strength used but the sentiment of the post i agree with.But on the whole the standard of posting on here has gone down over the last 6 months or so but strangely only on the U.K side forum what that says about us as a country i don`t know oh well back to the Mind Reading for beginners classes.

couldn't agree more , how rude to a new member poor katti , what a lovely introduction to zoo chat not! being as it was a monkey world thread was it so unreasonable to presume people might know what species were being spoken of ? i really don't understand why people with such an adversity to monkey world waste their time reading the threads .

im sure if this thread had been about anywhere else but monkey world the nasty reply,s wouldn't have happened

Kifaru has explained his grievances over this issue on other zoo's boards (Marwell springs to mind).

I don't want to completely jump into the argument as it's not my place but

being as it was a monkey world thread was it so unreasonable to presume people might know what species were being spoken of ?

Monkey World contains numerous species (chimps, orangs, gibbons, lemurs, capuchins etc) so the animal mentioned in the original statement could've been any one of them (to someone who does not know the animal by name)

I completely accept your point and can see that it is frustrating but that may not be obvious to a new person who just sees a section about their favourite zoo. My original point was not about the poster being told they had failed to explain adequately, but the unpleasant way it was done to a self-confessed new poster. I note the request by KB on the Marwell thread was couched in much more pleasant terms.

I've seen reams of inaccurate info posted on other parts of the forum and the author is still treated with reasonable politeness.

Maybe it is the change of name to Zoochat that has brought the dramatic fall in quality that is complained of - chat suggests casual - maybe it should be Zoodissertation

Just because i do not like the place does not mean i cannot take an interest in whats posted on the Monkey World thread with regards to what they have bred or what has died.As for wasting my time well its mine to waste not yours so thanks for the concern about me wasting my time reading what ever thread i want to waste it on!
