new chimp at monkey world called kiki she is being introdused to hananya group and she fiting in well she came from Beirut and she is 9 years old :)
 
Monkey world are starting to prepar to split the orangutan encloser so gordon and tuan can be out at the same time.
 
I can only imagine splitting the enclosure will make it such an eye sore. How is the other half going to be viewed, there are literally no viewing windows on the far side, maybe they will knock down the old nursery and put a window in there?

I'm hoping they will eventually get the funds to build a new complex, its very much needed.
 
I don't see that it has to be an eyesore, it's not exactly a thing of beauty now mind you. There must be plenty of places they can put a viewing window round the other half. I noticed a new, much needed viewing window going into one of the other enclosures recently but can't for the life of me remember which one.
 
The new viewing window you saw was probably at Dalumie's as I saw one there yesterday.
The splitting of the orang enclosure currently consists of one metal fencing pannel
 
Spent another day at the park today.
Kiki looks very settled in Hananya's group and has met everyone but Cherry and 1 other high ranking female.
No other real news to report, but everyone seemed fine.
 
What exactly is happening with the old nursery building? Its just standing there empty, are there any plans to take it down or is it just being kept in case its needed for emergency housing?

Also was watching Monkey Life the other day, what are the plans for Peanut's family and sending them to Vietnam? Are they waiting for the youngest to grow up a little and then moving them on?
 
at the moment, hsaio-ning, a-mei and hsaio-lan are living in the old nursery, while trying to introduce hsaio-ning into gordon's group.
 
think the only ones out of the family going to vietnam are the young ones tien and tia-nang and any other children they may have....

yer hsiao-ning amei and hsiao-lan are in the nursary at the moment sharing th enursary out side encloser with the young one i think why they are being introduced to silvester and hn am are introuced to gordon but i think amei will be going back to the nursary.......
 
The website says there are now 3 groups of woolly monkeys, do two groups share the enclosure by Pet's Corner now then? And are the Cotton Tops still on their own, when I went a last year they had been moved back to the monkey kitchen, I'm guessing they didn't mix well with the marmosets?
 
One of the groups of woolly monkeys is off show, but they are currently doing work on the old macaque enclosure (opposite the siamangs) and the third group will be moved in here. The cotton tops are still on their own, but are now living in the enclosure beside the squirrel monkeys and there are marmosets in the temporary kitchen. I think they had difficultly in mixing the cotton tops with the marmosets.
 
Monkey Worlds Facebook page reports the death of Siamang Gibbon, Onion after a short illness. He was born at the park in 2000 to Sage (now deceased) and Sam. This leaves MW with just Sam
 
Aww thats really sad news :( I wonder what will become of Sam and the enclosure, I can see them moving some Golden Cheekeds in there, its such a lovely, huge enclosure.
