Personally having endured the chessington monorail for 10 years, with people making chimp noises at the gorillas, roaring at the big cats and making sea lion noises it it should be phased out, but i suspect it will stay at least until the planned relocation of parts of the zoo to the '22 acre' field.
The trouble is a high percenateg of chessingtons guests go round on the monorail and think they have seen the zoo (poor views of the bird and monkey enclosures and nothing of creature features and the leopards, binturongs and fossa in trail of the kings, when there is so much more to see.
The animals largely ignored the monorail and its noises in my experience, even new arrivals got used to it very quickly.
