Moose in Cheshire

The link in the first post mentions that the animals were flown in from Sweden, and are only just over a year old, which would seem to suggest that they are not the same as the Allandale ones, which did also come from Sweden.

Unfortunately there are no longer Moose in Cheshire.

The Tarvin Sands Reindeer (and Moose) Centre did import a pair of Moose from Sweden but the female died and the male has been sent "to stud" in Scotland (presumably the Alladale estate as Highland WP already have males). The implication was that he would return, but I would check before visiting.

The site is a former fishery (there are still active fishing lakes next door) and consists of three paddocks, each dominated by central lake. The first contains 7 Reindeer, the second 5 Fallow Deer and 0.1 Sika and the third 0.1 Red Deer (this was also home to the Moose and is the only paddock that is not a walk-through). Sadly the only species liable to make use of the water has now left the collection!

There are also geese, rheas and goats. Is it worth £5? Not really. The strangest aspect of our visit was the fact that you are not left to wander freely but are accompanied by a guide!
