Toronto Zoo More animals!!!

Oo I remember those! What was the largest number of seasl at the zoo at one time? Was it like 11?

I don't remember, but there were alot, I remember when I was a child that I would peak to the side (Holding pen) and I saw the other seals swimming in the pool. x3

They had the world largest captive breeding colony and now its kind of sad to think theres only Rosie left. Im going to miss her when she goes, shes such a sweetie. I think its for the better that they are being phased out though. Breeding is not needed anymore as there not endangered anymore. The exhibit they currently live in is a great size but its beginning to show its age and the water is fresh which is bad for there eyes. It would cost millions to create a new exhibit or to renovate this one so in the long run, as sad as it will be to see them go, i think it might be for the better. I really wish they would have included at least one pinniped species into Tundra Trek but again, its about the cost

The capybaras were removed for the Tundra Trek construction origionally they planned on removing the Mayan Temple!

I'm glad they didn't, that place is amazing and it has a great themed look. Are they considering to put the capybaras back into the exhibit?

I really don't know but I think there are plans to make larger south american exhibits in the open spaces available near the temple.

yea with the conversion of the American pavilion to tropical americas!

So they are fixing the Mayan Temple? =( Oh well the spider monkeys and jaguars need new exhibits those chain-linked fences are ugly. They should use artificial stone walls and really make it look very lush, with ferns and fake tree trunks such as the kapok tree or the elephant tree.
