It was definately Margaret outside with the rest of the herd.

The little one was on its own in the giraffe house. I asked one of the keepers who told me the baby was born last Monday (31/3) and she believed that it was a female, tho didnt sound entirely sure.

I went to Chester today.

Margaret is out on the paddock with the adults, the new baby is a female and she is in one of the pens at the rear of the house, it seems as though she is being hand-reared although the person I spoke to did not say so.

The baby babirusa is a male and is doing fine, he has not been let out yet because of the cold weather. The path along the canal has been closed and the babirusa are not visible at the moment.

Pumba is suspected of being pregnant, so there may be some baby hogs soon.

The female warthog certainly looks as if she is pregnant, I couldn't find anyone to ask.

Both Indian rhinos were out in the Asian Plains exhibit.

0.3 sealions left the zoo late last year on the recommendation of the EEP, I forgot to ask if Chester are getting any new females.

The new male okapi has settled down well and has started to show an interest in the female. They have not been placed together yet, but seem to get along well.

The western end of the bridge is almost finished and a sign says it is to open soon.

No work has been carried out yet on the African aviary or the hornbill aviary. Information on the new map states that the ground hornbill aviary will also contain other African hornbills.

Birds nesting were red-crowned crane, both species of vultures, black-necked swans, little egrets, waldrapp ibis and spoonbills.

The Zoo Days crew were filming in the Tropical Realm.

Thats a turn up for the books!

How bigis margaret now, because last time i visited she was still tiny?

Glad to see I wasn't the only one who thought the warthog was pregnant!

Should be a good year for the pigs (incl. Babirusa) at Chester. Let's hope the Visayan warty pigs get in on the act ;). Actually, it seems like a good year for the hoofstock in general, what with the many new arrivals...

That reminds me, have the plans for persian goitered gazelles been scrapped like the addax ones?

The warty pigs are still too young. I don't know anything about the gazelles, looks like they are not coming after all.

Not sure about the Gazelles status but i think they are on hold but it might not be Persian Goitered, that arrive as i`ve heard at least 3 species mentioned to me by various members of staff.

Im not holding out for the gazelles at the moment. But never say never i guess and with Chester you never know until they actually arrive do you.

Bennets and Persian Goitered and the other escapes me at the moment will post it when i rember it will post but don`t think it was one of the Asian species.

Can you divulge which species have been tabled for the Asian ungulate exhibit?

Not sure if anything is going in the Asian Steppe other than whats in their at the moment, although i believe the zoo is getting 1.1 Bactrian Camels to add in to it.

Great about the camels. Will the male camel and male onager be allowed to share the same paddock though since in other zoos they are extremly aggresive.

zoogiraffe seems to indicate that the camels are going in with the rhinos. I don't think a male camel and a male onager would be kept in the same enclosure.
