BBC NEWS | UK | England | Bristol | Timid tiger gets stuck up tower

BBC News said:
A Bengal tiger has become stuck at the top of a new 15ft (5m) activity tower at a North Somerset zoo after climbing it for the first time.

Two-year-old Tanvir has spent 24 hours on the "enrichment" tower at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm in Wraxall.

He took a few seconds to scale the tower, which has branch-like platforms designed to test his ingenuity.

But the zoo said after shinning up the exercise structure on Monday, he has become too frightened to come down.

Oh dear, i dont know quite how to repsond to this. Is the the fualt of Noahs ark? or just a case of a wimpy tiger?

Ha! As ever, the way to a cat's heart is through its stomach!

Sounds more like a case of a wimpy Tiger than the zoos fault, almost all zoos have climbing structures in their enclosures so it makes sense that Noahs Ark has put one in too. Maybe the tiger hadn't encountered one before, I'm not sure where they came from but I assume they didn't have a climbing structure there?

Although it could be a poorly designed tower (which wouldn't surprise me), it is probably more of a hesitating not really breave cat than anything else. But it is typcial that from all the zoos (or zoo like facilities) it happened just in Noahs Ark:)

Tanvir came from WMSP.

There was a full-height picture of the tower in yesterday's Metro free newspaper. It's pretty tall.

Interestingly, this morning's paper includes a letter from 'Jon' of London suggesting that maybe the tiger is up there to protest at the zoo's (quote) 'Creationist agenda'!

Am sure that went down well with the "zoo."

Tigers love very high up vantage points in captivity. Maybe the muscles he needs to get up and down weren't used as much at WMSP? I prefer the idea it was a sit-in protest though........

This is simply noahs ark creating publicity for themselves! i very much doubt the tiger was actually stuck

Don't forget Tigers don't normally climb trees in the wild so are not that agile in that respect. They do like to sit on high vantage points but these are usually on rocky outcrops or boulders in the wild- so getting 'stuck' on a zoo's climbing structure is maybe understandable (like the domestic cat in the tree syndrome).
