Mornington Crescent

Opposite time zones don’t seem to play a part these days as much as they used to - to the game, must be the internet and all that stuff causing this to happen.

having consulted with an expert on the game (it's not cheating just showing passion), I have been advised to play what is known as 'The Brighton Handicap' this lateral shift is designed to box my opponents out of the game.

Successful manoeuvre is Temple

I'd forgotten all about this thread 'til I was sorting some old photos out.

Noting Pootle's move of Temple I consulted the latest Old Stovold's Almanac and was delighted to find a loophole for moves played graphically on stations of fewer than seven letters. This allows me to invoke a left-field fly progression and play:

Oh.

So after a wait of four months the game is finally over?

This game may be over, but The Game is eternal.

From the Book of Zone 1, Chapter 2 Verses 16-21:

"And verily, the Archangel Lyttelton did speaketh unto St John's Wood, and did declare unto the Brethren of Goodge Street and Hyde Park Corner: My children, know that the ender of the first round must turn to another to commence the new, but know that this other must always come, by the Divine Providence of Mrs Trellis (North Wales) so that the Game may go on Eternally (subject to weekend line closures; see posters for details)"

I wait for this Other to come and to declare his or her move, so that the Game may go on, and I hold faith that there is one here to do this.

Right just to get the ball rolling I'm going to throw out the Elephant and Castle,as a starter!

Lo, the Other moves among us!

Not a common start; in fact I believe not used as an opener on the professional circuit since the final of the Bangkok Open back in 2004. An interesting challenge. Assuming we're playing with the same rules as Round 1, I'm going to risk a Turnberry loop by playing:

Marylebone

You are indeed correct about the last use of this move on the professional circuit, but given the fact that I'm not a professional in any form of game or profession, why would you be surprised by that move as a result,I will now go for the backward reverse curveball of Heathrow Terminal 4.

An interesting move. Leaves me rather boxed. But there's a way through to:

Fairlop

Now thats an interesting move I was expecting people to get lost,at Heathrow Terminal 4 given how well they lose people's luggage will have to have a ponder about the next move,in the hope that somebody beats me to it!!!!

I don't think I need to explain the elementary tactics involved in a simple north of the river, anticlockwise, line change.

It's always nice to see a game start with such elementary moves - a classic jalopy if I may say so.

I know it's a little early to come in with this one, but I have to play the bookies gamble

Ladbrooks Grove

Sorry, I have been playing a little Chess over the Christmas holidays and appeared to have the rules of the two games mixed up just before :o

Let me see, ah yes, with line swappage in tunnels only and avoiding the engineering works I can play Edgware Road

That very conveniently allows me to use the reverse Brunel loop giving double points for Kensal Green for the cemetary rather than the commonly used Paddington.

Having spent much of the last 6 months deliberating over how to play against Kensal Green (like hundreds of others no doubt), it suddenly dawned on me whist starring aimlessly at a calendar that 2012 is a Leap Year and according to Sherringhams Ruling of 1965 about Leap Year transgressions I have checked and can play Ongar.

The QI Elves said:
Whitechapel is the only station where the Underground is over ground and the Overground is under ground.

THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING. How did I not know this? That means I can progress from Ongar to:

Finchley Road and Frognal

In one move! Without even having to surrender Tooting Broadway under the Latch Convention. This is marvellous.
