That article doesn´t mention exact origins. But this must be male Sámer and female Kya from Olomouc zoo. Kya was born in Olomouc 2 years ago to parents Akin and Kali (who were imported from private breeder in South Africa). Sámer was imported from Syria last year. Both formed a pair and then dissappeared from Olomouc. Now we know where they went.

No Jana, they are not the animals from CZ. They are animals from a Syrian private institution.

The last estimate I saw given said the habitat would open to the public in Summer.
 
Fantastic, thank you! BTW, this particular pool is SOOO small and bare. It is not fitting the 21th Century at all :( what a potential, what a strange result.
 
While the pavilion is not open officially yet, people already have access and they have already published the first video. This one (just move a bit in time) describes whole the facility nicely.

That all depends on whether they ARE getting Shoebill - certainly I can't think of anywhere which a) currently keeps the species and b) is likely to send stock to a Russian collection.

So it's either untrue, or liable to be wild-caught I suspect.
 
They've been trying to get hold of them for a while, I spoke to someone at the zoo back in 2016 who said they'd been looking but couldn't justify the expense (then around $80,000 a pair apparently) to bring them in. Nothing but wild sourcing was ever mentioned then, and it's hardly like the zoo population has boomed since then so WC would be almost certain.

According to the Moscow Administration, the cub weighed 150 grams at birth and it is still unknown whether it is male or female.

The six-year-old female bear, named Dindin, delivered to the Moscow Zoo in 2019 by the Chinese government along with the seven-year-old male Zhui, immediately accepted the newborn, and is observed by specialists.
 
Does Moscow pay for their pandas like almost everybody else, or are they a gift like the ones in the Republic of China ?
