I may be stretching a point to post this link here (Moderators please move it if you wish). This photo is a stitched panorama taken by David Breashears for Glacier Works to document the extent of a glacier in the Everest region this spring.
It really is worth examination: there may be climbers somewhere (I haven't found them yet) but I doubt if anyone will spot a snow leopard.

That base camp is like a tent city! I could not believe the number of people (based on tent count) once I zoomed in. They should just build a motel at the base.

Absolutely fascinating! The massive scale of it all doesn't become apparent until you spot the tents. I'll be spending a lot of time studying this!

That is one very cool picture!

This is a bit like 'Where's Wally'! So far I've found the camp and climbers on Lhotse and I spotted what looks like a permanent building at Base Camp, next to what must be a hospital. Hours of fun!

I think I might have found some sort of bird- flying almost directly above the second peak to the left?

I had a look at some of the other webpages. Of particular interest are the before-and-after photos comparing how the glaciers looked in 1899 say, and again in 2009. I am not sure if I should feel sad, angry, or both.

Another find: if you go as far right as you can, without zooming in, there's a small cluster of blue buildings plus more tents in the middle of the screen. Also, there seem to be some 'bridges' on the lower part of the glacier near some climbers.

No, I haven't spent all of Christmas Day looking at this ;) When I was studying Geography at school it was my dream to see a glacier, now realised with trips to the Alps, Rockies and Iceland. I could never do what these climbers are doing. My journey to Base Camp would finish when I reached the first rope bridge  But I do find it all fascinating in a vicarious way.
