According to ISIS, Mulhouse houses 0.1 red-backed bearded Saki (Chiropotes Chiropotes). The holding of 0.1 Uta Hicks' bearded saki (Chiropotes Utahickae) has been removed from ISIS (where, i thought, it was listed as Chiropotes Satanas btw).

I'm pretty sure no animals where ever exchanged, but i do feel their holding in ISIS has changed. Does anyone know anything about this story/animal? Has it been redefined as a red-backed bearded saki or was it always listed as such on ISIS and do i remember it wrong?

I think it was always listed as Chiropotes chiropotes - the record predates the species being split and has never been updated.

(the Colchester and Belfast animals listed are 'proper' C. chiropotes, of course).

I take it when you say Landau you don't mean the zoo as they have never kept West African Dwarf Crocs, the Reptilium on the other hand does!

Sorry for any confusion, Reptilium was what I meant (not zoo)

The latest E-news letter from Mulhouse was released today and contained a tribute to Europe's final Uta Hicks Bearded Saki (Chiropotes utahickae) who passed away at Mulhouse on 22nd October

Quote from the newsletter (Google translated)

Carmen, the only saki satan living in captivity in the world died of his age Tuesday, October 22. 28 years old, an advanced age case, it was entrusted to Mulhouse Zoo after a seizure by customs poachers. She lived in a group of tamarins with whom she got along well. The species is classified as critically endangered and Carmen was his sole representative in captivity in the world. It will be retained for the purposes of scientific study and incorporate a museum collection
