Allwetterzoo Münster Munster ZOO

Does anyone know what happened to the gray seals? I didn't see any of them at my visit today.

Aside from that construction of the knew enclosures for doles and sloth bears has started. The sun bears were either already gone or behind the scenes.
The Sun bears were send to the Tierpark Berlin last year

Recently, orangutans Ramon (previously of Leningrad Zoo and Blackpool Zoo) and Mandi have had a son together. No name as of yet. This makes Ramon a first time father whilst Mandi previously had another son Mr. Miyagi in 2014.

On the 26th of May a Blue wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus taurinus) was born.

On the 31st of May a male Visayan spotted deer (Rusa alfredi) was born.

Recently a new species arrived at the zoo, namely Western chameleon geckos (Eurydactylodes occidentalis). This species has only been described in 2009 and according to ZTL Münster is the only zoo in Europe with this species. Currently its kept behind the scenes but will eventually be housed in the renovated ArtenschutzCampus.

Another new species arrived at the zoo this month, namely Mount Kenya three-horned chameleons (Trioceros jacksonii xantholophus) they can be found in the aquarium.

I was in Münster todsy after years waiting for the Marenti-Hall. One species I really wanted to see a species, the Red-billed chough. But I really coudn't find the aviary. I read it was close to the vultures. But I could not find by the other aviaries, nor on the side of the bobcats and camels. Are they still there, or could I not reach them bevause of the large construction work in that general area.

At the end of July 3 Red-necked wallabys (Notamacropus rufogriseus) arrived from NaturZoo Rheine. This marks the return of this species to Münster, they are the first residents of the new enclosures around the Merenti halle.

Around a month ago a Goeldi's monkey (Callimico goeldii) was born.

Recently male Kikuyu Guereza (Colobus guereza kikuyuensis) Okayo (23/12/2009) arrived from Zoo Dresden.

They are listet as former on ZTL. Next to the tiger and leopard "indoor" area are some aviaries so I would imagine that they were kept somewhere there. But the Meranti-Halle has also replaced the former eagle aviaries where they could have been located.

I visited Allwetter zoo in July 2022 and don't recall seeing any red-billed choughes.
