Last wednesday a very unexpected birth took place at Munster. 35 year old orang utan female Nonja had become thicker and thicker but because it was already 17 year ago that she had her last birth ( a female ) nobody expected she could be pregnant. Everybody proofed wrong and a healthy baby was born ! First mother and child were kept out of public-view but now they can be watched by the audience !

For the first time in 16 years 2 Chilian flamingos have hatched at Muenster. With 14 more eggs being incubated this could become a real good year for the flamingos !
0.1 Asain elephant Bala (29) goes to Liberec in early October to acompany 0.1 Rani (50). Rani has been alone since their longtime buddy deceased two years ago.
Yesterday a tiger killed a male keeper (57). Apparently the keeper made a mistake so he entered the enclosure while one tiger (1,0) was still inside. The keeper could be seperated from the tiger very quickly but it was nevertheless too late. The animal is back in a cage now and won't be killed.
