My zoo list #2

New Year's Eve means the annual tot-up of zoo visits for the year and surprisingly I matched 2009 exactly with 82 collections visited (though I did manage four more individual visits than last year, just creeping past the one hundred mark).

I found my way to 35 new collections, mostly in the Czech Republic and Germany, bringing my lifetime total to 421.

I wonder what adventures 2011 will bring ...

You're way ahead of where I was at your age; I'd probably only seen a couple of dozen places up until my early twenties when I started travelling specifically to see zoos rather than just visiting those that are local to me or happened to coincide with holiday destinations (I've now gone full circle and most holiday destinations are picked purely on the strength of their zoos!).

Seeing as we have started a new year thought I had better up-date my zoo list.

Anything in Red means its a new collection since my last update.

Also including private collections it now means I have visited 286 different collections now so am going to do my best to visit 14 new collections this year to reach the 300!

Just for the record the 275 collection was Heppenheim Bird Garden while the 250 collection was Bluereef Aquarium Portsmouth.

For the record, after a tot-up you just pip my annual figures of 76 collections and 91 visits for 2010. Both are up on 2009 (63 collections, 79 visits).
