*There were other births that happened this year, with horseshoe crabs, frogfish, and seahorses, but due to the vast quantity and the unknown date of birth, I have not included them in the news list.

We are about a month out from the last update on the female beluga fighting health issues, last update was September 30. Has anyone been there recently and have any more recent info?

Anyone know which whale it is that likes to come up to the glass and interact with people? Pre-Marineland imports.

Visited the aquarium this past Monday, not much to report but I did see all five Belugas. Three are in the main pool with an additional two in the back holding pools which can be seen from public view.
The two Spotted Seal are no longer on-exhibit and evidently have not been for quite some time. I last saw them last January. I'm unsure if this is a permanent change.
Due to the robosaur "Jurassic Giants" exhibit, the building with the reptiles and amphibians is no longer free to enter, but costs an additional $12 which I find ridiculous.
There is a rather large unsigned, unidentified prawn/shrimp in the Japanese Spider Crab tank. I saw it a year ago but figured it was food for something, but it's still there. Likely a hitchhiker from when they caught their giant deep-sea isopodes a few years ago.
The aquarium now has Giant Grouper on-exhibit with the Spotted Wobbegong and sea turtle.

I was told last year that they rotate the seals, but they also give the animals some choice in where they'd prefer and the spotteds like the off-show pool.

They should have seven belugas. Three in the main pool. Three that were imported last year in the smaller area and the sick one is off exhibit in the back being taken care of near the penguins.

The female is still sick?! If I recall correctly, she's been ill since August/September. That's certainly a bit concerning, hopefully she pulls through unlike Havok!

I believe it is Jetta. the zoos Facebook stopped posting weekly updates and said it will most be a long recovery for her. I wonder if Havok and Jetta were sick before they left marineland.
A few posts up I posted an update that Mystic provided about Jetta, both written and the video footage. She’ll probably be BTS until a full recovery.

They are having the worst luck with those belugas from Marineland. I think any hopes of a similar import permit from Mystic or Georgia or Shedd down the road is pretty much dashed with these recent deaths. It's a shame since these American institutions need the animals and Marineland has an ungodly number. Time will tell.

But what they don't need is animals riddled with health issues that aren't breedable, and it's clear this is what they'd be getting from Marineland.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Marineland gave them ones That weren’t in the best condition or if one was just in bad shape and gave it to the others somehow. Good thing they weren’t kept in the same area as the other 3 that were already there.

It also doesn’t help that kela and Natasha are on the older side. Personally I think that once these sicknesses all get sorted out they should bring in a younger female that is breedable with the chances she can breed with Juno.
