Well apparently this zoo got a large renovation in the last few years so I guess it doesn't look as bad anymore

Female sun bear Maane, daughter of Maakun and Maako, is leaving Higashiyama Zoo on 12th March and moving to Kumamoto Zoo (how apt) to be paired with male Fuji, son of Azuma and Momoko at Ueno Zoo. What a great coupling! I’m glad it seems that Maachin (Martin) will stay at Higashiyama Zoo for now, he is my favourite sun bear in the whole world, and I hope to be able to visit him soon.
Along with the three males that moved to Kobe the zoo has lost female timber wolf Janet. 2.2 wolves remain. Brazilian tapir male Tobachi is moving to Izu cactus park. The tapir exhibit will ve removed.
The twin chimpanzees which were born a few months ago got their names, Kalan and Choe
Good news everyone.
According to the zoo's website the African apes will have their exhibits closed to the public after June 19 because they will be moving to their new enclosure which is planned to be open to tge public at September 30.

Great that they're actually improving. The snow leopard exhibit looks ugly.
Update on the gorillas (interpreting google translate): A tremor from the Osaka earthquake has bothered the gorillas, particularly Shabani. The overprotective male couldn't stay alone, so the transportation ad some delays. The animals had their checkups. Sadly no image of the indoor exhibits (which is probably better than before).
