I went to Lion Country Safari in California when I was a kid. It is listed on this site, but there are no pictures. The park closed 40 years ago so I don't know if anyone currently on ZooChat has been there. I have also been to several nature centers with live animals in California that are not listed on this site, including:
- Desert Tortoise Research Natural Area -- accessible via a dirt road in the Mojave desert and the only tortoises I saw were in cages displayed at the entrance
- Placerita Canyon Nature Center -- animals included a desert tortoise, red-tailed hawk, raven, and turkey vulture
- Eaton Canyon Nature Center -- various reptiles and amphibians
- Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center in Ventura -- tide pool touch exhibit with sea stars and related marine life
Several of us have been to Eaton Canyon, at least.
