The tiger exhibit is closed for the time being as repairs are being made to the bridge.
Ugh. Hope they're fixed for my visit in two weeks!

It might well be back open by then. Looked like most of the needed work was almost complete.Ugh. Hope they're fixed for my visit in two weeks!
A coworker of mine visited the zoo this past weekend and reported that the zoo has an infant fanaloka on display in their veterinary care center, produced from a recent import.
A king vulture chick has hatched on May 7th. This is the zoo's first chick of that species.
Nashville really is the ultimate tease for zoo nerds, acquiring and breeding all of these rare small carnivores just to keep them behind the scenes. Now that they've publicly announced it, it can finally be postedNashville has yellow-throated martens behind the scenes! https://twitter.com/nashzoovet/status/1536350550547124227?s=20&t=P6EfFXTMqA4NxUuRwobnqQ

Their success in breeding means they’ll likely send animals out to other zoos (like their palm banded civets) which will hopefully exhibit them. Hopefully Nashville itself will construct some habitats for all their rare bts animals eventually as well. That would really raise Nashville to another level.Nashville really is the ultimate tease for zoo nerds, acquiring and breeding all of these rare small carnivores just to keep them behind the scenes.![]()

I had just visited the Nashville zoo on Monday and at the veterinary center, they had the fanaloka kit and the king vulture that had hatched (separate of course). They've had the civets for years and haven't mentioned building a habitat for themFor now it's important to remember the fanaloka was pregnant when she arrived, as well. Assuming their male is the sire, it's at least a successful pair, which is a plus.
