The info graphic boards may be smaller, but it doesn't create any more or less crowding than what already occurs.
I meant the dividing ones that are brand new. They make it impossible to hang off to the side of an exhibit.
That style of separation has always been there since day one - these are replacing old backlight display boards. If anything they've improved the this separation since their overall profile is more narrowed. You can still see the exhibit to the sides.

The Upland Tropical Rainforest will close March 3rd through the fall for the Aquarium's much needed glass pyramid replacement. From the Aquarium's Twitter:
"Heads up: The Upland Tropical Rain Forest exhibit will temporarily close starting March 3 as we begin replacing the 684 panes of glass in the exhibit's iconic pyramid. The new glass will be energy efficient, have updated safety features for wildlife, and will better control temperatures in the exhibit for animals, plants and guests. We're excited to welcome you back to the rain forest in the fall of this year, but in the meantime, be sure to check out all the other amazing exhibits and experiences the Aquarium has to offer!"

Shark Alley: The aquarium gravel is being replaced. Divers are working in sections to vacuum up the old sand, replace the screened netting, and replace the gravel with new substrate. Some animals may be behind the scenes and the Shark Gates will be lowered at times for the divers safety.
The Aquarium along with Baltimore's Waterfront Partnership and other community groups have constructed a floating island in Harbor East (a few city blocks east of the Aquarium) for local turtles which have recently made appearances over the last few years.

Nice to finally see something happening with the projects they wanted to do in the harbor, but this is a little underwhelming

This project is entirely separate from the larger floating wetlands concept that is planned between Pier's 3 and 4. Money has been raised, but COVID put a damper on things as well as other priorities (such as the Glass Pyramid replacement).
I visited the aquarium today for my first time since 2019.
-The upland tropical rainforest is closed until fall 2022 for glass panel upgrades.
-There has been a disease located in several of the coral reef fish in the Atlantic Coral Reef. They are putting copper into the tank to slow the spread, and during this process the sharks and stingrays have been moved behind-the-scenes. They are gradually introducing the sharks and stingrays back into the exhibit, the blacknose shark is back on exhibit but the stingrays not yet.
-The last bonnethead shark at the aquarium passed away a month ago. He was moved in quarantine with the blacknose shark and southern stingrays three months ago, but he was just there for two months and died a month ago.
-The cownose stingray passed away a few years ago. They said it was before Covid so when I saw her in August 2019 it was near the end. She was around 40 and the oldest of her species in history. She was the last of her species at the aquarium. The Atlantic Coral Reef tank just has two juvenile male southern stingrays(off exhibit currently.) I am not sure what happened to the lone southern stingray from a few years ago, but I know he is gone
-In Australia Wild Extremes, the frilled lizard and olive python are gone.
-Dolphin shows are no longer present because they don’t want to put stress on the dolphins, and training sessions are not scheduled due to covid, so they go on at random times

There haven't been dolphin shows since 2011 - over a decade now.
The aquarium just announced that it will achieve net-zero emissions by 2035.

Shark Alley: The gravel replacement project is complete. New lining and screening was also installed.
This has been completed for a while, but the Aquarium finally made an announcement and ribbon cutting today.

As @red river hog said, they are longer at the Aquarium. They were a phase out species almost 10 years ago now and slowly the colony passed away. Not exactly sure when the last one died, but it's been a number of years now. The exhibit graphics were re-done, removing them from the list of exhibited species even while some were still behind the scenes.
