I've decided to create an updating species list of the National Zoo based on my visits. This is one of the oldest zoos in the US. This list is a little unique compared to other species lists zoochatters have made due to the inclusion of plants and formerly displayed animals in my species lists. Though I bet not a lot of people are botanists here, still hope as my list updates overtime people can give confirmation of the plants there. I'll be making individual posts based on the various areas or galleries throughout the facility.

I like the inclusion of plants, but as a suggestion before you continue: it may be helpful to additionally include common names for the species that have them, since many people are not familiar with Latin names alone.

Just wanna make this clear, I know people like to put common names for convenience sake, but I'm a binomial guy when listing things completely and plus, no need to be to rude, but you can google the binomial and find out what I'm referring to.

Googling the binomial for hundreds of species is a pretty significant task to put on somebody reading your thread. If you really feel that strongly about it for some reason then alright; I'm just letting you know that a lot of people will probably ignore lists completely if they can't read it.

Especially likely to be ignored when there's already a species list for the zoo that is very straightforward and doesn't require looking up names.

Not anymore you can't, unfortunately; there's a time limit on editing posts. That's why I made my suggestion when you had just started and still had enough time to edit what you'd already done ;):p

You still haven't done the indoor Reptile, Small Mammal, or Amazon houses yet, so if you have lists for those as well you can still do it for them - especially given that there are more species in those.
