Native Mammals in Australian Zoos

Which zoo in Australia would be best to see native species? Not just the typical kangaroos but animals like ghost bats and possums? I’m deciding on traveling to Australia in a few years or Japan.
David Fleays Wildife Park is fantastic. With many rarities such as platypus, Proserpine Rock Wallaby, bilby and yellow-bellied glider. You will also see magpie geese, eastern water dragons and Australian white ibis in the wild if you visit.

Oakvale Wildlife Park has now become a holder of Lumholte Tree Kangaroos obtained from the Tree Kangaroo rescue and conservation centre

Peel zoo has opened its marsupial walk-through. Only two species on display - Rufous bettong and Ringtail possum. I discussed the situation with the three species of quoll currently held and it seems they will not breed from their Eastern and Tiger quolls until they've expanded further by building more enclosures. They are hoping to add a male Northern quoll to the collection as soon as possible. They would also accept Chuditch if any became available.

After visiting ASDP and TWP:
Spectacled Hare-wallaby definitely gone from ASDP. Still one animal at TWP.

Wilkins’ Rock-wallaby gone from TWP.

Black Wallaroo might be gone too. Didn’t see it today and no signage.

10 points to both the keeper at Wildlife HQ and (especially) the reporter for getting such a nice factual and informative interview out.

Normally the media just wants some fuzz.

When were you last there? This list from February does not include them: Phillip Island Wildlife Park species list [Phillip Island Wildlife Park]

I was last there on Dec 31 2019 but I’ve been visiting the park for years. The enclosure isn’t hard to miss as it’s in a peculiar spot outside the reptile house near the northern end of the Tassie Devil enclosures.

I looked at the list and there’s Mertens Water Monitor, a species I’ve never seen at the park. I should have photos, they are terrible quality though.

Yes I know they were kept at the park - what I meant was that the list in that post is from February and they are not on it (so either it was simply missed off the list, or they no longer have them).

yes they certainly have the Black flying foxes, approx. 25. Its a strange enclosure really, glass viewing windows and seems the enclosure is kept quite heated with several heat lamps. But despite the bright lights inside, its actually quite hard to see into. I don't know why they need the heat lamps though, as Halls Gap also have them in a standard aviary type enclosure without any visible heat source.
