What collections hold platypus? I know of Taronga Zoo, Healesville Sanctuary, Sea Life Sydney Aquarium, Melbourne Zoo, David Fleay Wildlife Park and Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Are there any more?
Walkabout Creek in Queensland also has platypus, does it not?
South East Queensland Wildlife Centre
A trip to Walkabout Creek would not be complete without a visit to the South East Queensland Wildlife Centre. This living showcase of the amazing wildlife diversity of south-east Queensland provides an opportunity for visitors to see local wildlife up close, including a platypus, wombat, rainforest birds, reptiles and nocturnal marsupials. The wildlife centre is open from 9am to 4.15pm every day excluding some public holidays. For admission prices visit Department of National Parks, Sport and Racing or for further information ph 07 3512 2300.
Does anyone know if there are still any Bennett's tree kangaroos around? I know Cairns Tropical Zoo for one used to have the species.
no Bennett's in zoos currently, and Cairns Tropical Zoo didn't have them - that was entirely my error! Al posted a photo he took there in 2005 which I said was a Bennett's but it is actually a Lumholtz's (I thought it was too dark but I was just wrong). I was just looking at the photo before - I've now added a little addendum to my old post to correct it.Can anyone answer this? Or at least what years Cairns Tropical Zoo kept Bennett's tree kangaroos?
why do you think they are not wild? That page of their website is showing the native animals which may be seen on their property on night walks.Banana Cabana Primate Sanctuary has long-nosed bandicoot according to their website (although they appear to be wild/semi-wild?): Banana Cabana | Banana Cabana B&B Wildlife

they are located in Hornsby Shire where long-nosed bandicoots are found naturally. There isn't anything on their website to suggest the bandicoots aren't just the usual wild ones.I thought they could possibly be contained in a fenced-off area which would raise the question if they are wild or semi-captive.
I would probably be able to do on show species lists for both Currumbin and Fleay when I get back to Perth if there is interest?
I'm interested![]()
