Natural Bridge Zoo Natural Bridge Zoo News

“According to the AG's office, Natural Bridge Zoo had claimed on May 22nd that Valentine's health was "rapidly declining," but veterinarian experts decided that moving her was less of a risk to her health than leaving her in the zoo's care. The next day, the AG's office said the zoo's owner Gretchen Mogensen admitted to giving Valentine a shot the evening before the giraffe was transported”. What the hell did he give her? Interestingly enough the necropsy results currently don’t point towards capture myopathy as the cause of death. This whole situation has been a disaster.

Because the Mogensen's are awful people?
Huh..., I would have expected a more informed opinion.

I guess - to me - it seems more about the ineffectual course of action put in motion by the relevant authorities (both law enforcement, State administration and judiciary) to have done so before combined with a current lack of any "determined" action to deal with the owners once and for all (perhaps even a resident problem with checks and balances and local government to deal with them). But honestly, I do not know enough to decide either way before or against ..., so just asking again...Why and How so long before closure and successful prosecution!???

The wheels of justice move slowly, especially when those caught up in it are actively making the states job as difficult as possible.

Judge orders the return of the two missing calves or face a 100 day contempt of court jail time.

Judge tells Natural Bridge Zoo manager: Turn over missing baby giraffes or go to jail - Cardinal News

The Zoo manager chose a 100 day jail sentence instead of revealing the whereabouts of the two giraffe calves.

If she was willing to take jail time, I would imagine the calves were either illegally transported and sold or dead. Or likely both at this point.

Taking this out of the court ruling, so it's written on here.
Of the 100 animals seized (not everything on property!), the zoo has been allowed to keep:
- 2 red ruffed lemurs, 3 black and white ruffed lemurs, and 6 ringtailed lemurs
- 15 macaws of unknown species, 2 galah
- 2 burmese pythons, 2 ball pythons, 1 skink (possibly means the gila monster?)
- 1 donkey, 1 miniature donkey, 2 llamas, and 1 sheep
- 1 dog
What happened to the asiatic black bear ?
