[Varanus the Unbelievable]

I was at the Las Vegas Natural History Museum the past weekend and was surprised at the number of live animals they have (I was there for the fossils!). Specific noteworthy animals were Colorado River toads, a Burmese python, several saltwater fish tanks, and a pool with epaulette, bamboo, and horn sharks. Very interesting museum.

Queensland Museum has a small collection of insects and reptiles. They had Giant Burrowing Cockroaches, Leaf-Tailed Gecko, Green Tree Pythons and some kind of stick insect at the time of my visit last year. I've seen some pics of spider exhibits there on the galleries, but I did not see them on my visit (I did not see everything in the natural history area, it's huge! The spiders also could have been in a temporary exhibit that had closed by the time I visited.)

I visited the Queensland Museum in 1991. It is the only place I've seen live Gordian or horsehair worms.
